The Science of Woo Presents: Flow State

FLOW STATE is a cinematic TEDxNashville experience bringing together neuroscience, immersive performance, and lived experience to explore the science — and feeling — of flow states.

The evening features four distinct perspectives on flow:

George Mumford — the mindfulness coach who worked with Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and six NBA championship teams — will explore the role of attention, presence, and awareness in elite performance, and what it means to become fully absorbed in the moment.

David Zald — neuroscientist and expert in motivation, reward, and decision-making — will explore why the brain may be designed more for pursuit than achievement, and how that tension shapes desire, meaning, and the possibility of flow itself.

René Marois — neuroscientist and consciousness researcher — will examine one of the deepest mysteries of the human mind: why, despite the brain’s immense parallel processing power, we experience only a single stream of awareness at a time.

And Dre Hartley — flow artist and somatic guide — will lead the audience through an immersive experience blending movement, visualization, recovery, and embodied awareness, exploring how surrender and presence can reconnect us to states of creativity, intuition, and flow.

Designed not simply as a lecture, but as an atmosphere, FLOW STATE is an immersive exploration of attention, consciousness, surrender, and the mysterious states where we feel most alive.
