Kristian Bush, known for his Grammy Award-winning group, Sugarland, is also known for describing songwriting as “dark magic.” Kristian is gathering a small group of songwriters to explore Nashville’s sacred art form – to learn from each other and from some self-reflection. We know there’s not one way to do it, nor one fail-proof way to create a hit. But in all of its forms, how do we know when we encounter this art in its highest form? Where can the art take us? What are the setbacks? The aha moments?

John Mediana and Jesse Ross, co-founders of NFT Nashville (the very first NFT community in Nashville), will guide a discussion about this new world of “non-fungible tokens.” What are NFTs? How can they be used? Is it all hype? How will they matter in my life? Joining their discussion is renowned photographer, Jeremy Cowart (session one) and gifted classical composer, Cristina Spinei (session 2), to offer context for the intersection of art and technology, and discuss what’s next to come.

Join us as the National Museum of African Music presents “The Four Pillars of Hip Hop,” which will explore and celebrate the key elements of this cultural phenomenon: deejaying, rapping, breaking, and graffiti.
